One aspect of Rafiel Eristavi's publicism
The article talks about the Georgian writer and public figure of the 19th century, Rafiel Eristavi, and his merits to the Georgian nation.
A simple enumeration of Rafiel Eristavi's fields of activity assures us that he has made a significant contribution to the public life of Georgia.
The subject under discussion is the extensive letter of Rafiel Eristavi "Looking at the "Best Knowledge", which was printed in "Meurne" in 1888. This letter of Rafiel Eristavi does not imply an evaluation of the artistic talent of the great Georgian writer and public figure, Giorgi Tsereteli, but it is still noteworthy for us.
The brochure "Best Knowledge" was compiled and published by Giorgi Tsereteli in 1888. If we use today's terminology, it can be attributed to the category of scientific-popular literature. Rafiel Eristavi positively evaluates this brochure and notes that this kind of work is really praiseworthy. At the same time, he expresses dissatisfaction with some of the shortcomings of the brochure, focusing on specific terms.
According to Rafiel Eristavi, there is no need to use new words or introduce foreign words. In his opinion, Giorgi Tsereteli's lexical intuition is visible when comparing the terms, and secondly, the author of the letter makes an objective assessment. Therefore, it seems that Rafiel Eristavi highly valued the language and style of Giorgi Tsereteli's artistic works.
