Akaki Tsereteli about the achievements of Rafiel Eristavi
Akaki Tsereteli considered Rafiel Eristavi to be one of the outstanding members of the 60s group of artists and respected him, especially for his persistence and principles.
Akaki did not consider Rafiel Eristavi's activities as a public figure to be properly seen and appreciated. It is true that during his tenure as the head of Mazri in Zugdidi and as a conciliation judge in Kutaisi, he was remembered by many, but his merits were never emphasized either by the government or the society;
Akaki especially appreciates the fact that Rafiel took care of the revival of the Georgian theater; He also wrote plays, acted on the stage, directed, suggested. In a word, he was not capable of any work, because he knew that the existence and promotion of the theater was of great importance at that stage. Since there was no permanent theater, it depended on the hard work and zeal of stage lovers whether the Georgian performance would be performed or not and whether the society would receive spiritual nourishment.
Akaki Tsereteli made sure that Rafiel Eristavi's excellent writings and translations reached the readers. It was he who spread the story of Rafiel Eristavi's translation of Krylov's fables in the press, and we got the result: shortly after Akaki's note was published, Gr. Krylov's fables were translated by Charkviani Rafiel, which turned out to be a really valuable acquisition for Georgian readers.
Akaki compared Rafiel Erista to a bee, who worked tirelessly for the good of others. According to Akaki, it would be a great ungratefulness on the part of the Georgian society if they did not celebrate his merits. Fortunately, this call of the poet did not go unanswered either, and on October 22, 1895, R. The anniversary is dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of Eristavi's writing and public activity.
The relationship between Akaki Tsereteli and Rafiel Eristavi is an excellent example of what kind of attitude people in public service should have towards each other.
